Anything But Common
If there is one thing we have learned about social media it is that, much like in real life, being a good community member is important. Since we strive to be inclusive, active and engaging in our real life communities we decided to carry this practice over to our online communities as well.
Thus we have decided to share projects, promotions and anything else interesting, new or innovative from our fellow coffee community members.
For our first sharing post, we couldn’t help but talk about another great coffee Tumblr: CoffeeCommon.com.
Coffee Common made its debut at the TED2011 conference, and is an amazing consortium of coffee roasters. What we find most engaging about this site is that, while these roasters are competitors, they have come together with a shared goal of educating people about what makes great coffee.
According to the TED website, Coffee Common is “about making a better world — because drinking great coffee reflects an investment in sustainable small farms, most in developing nations.”
And that is something that we, at Salt Spring Coffee, can whole heartedly agree with.
